Job description

Food Preparation: Assisting chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, peeling fruits, and preparing ingredients. Kitchen helpers may also help with marinating, seasoning, and portioning ingredients as needed. Dishwashing and Cleaning: Washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment using manual or mechanical methods. Kitchen helpers are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen, including cleaning countertops, sinks, stovetops, and floors. Stocking and Inventory: Assisting with receiving and storing food deliveries, checking for freshness and quality, and rotating stock to ensure that ingredients are used in a timely manner. Kitchen helpers may also assist with inventory management tasks such as restocking shelves and organizing storage areas. Assisting During Service: During meal service, kitchen helpers may assist chefs and cooks with plating dishes, garnishing plates, and ensuring that orders are prepared and delivered to customers in a timely manner. They may also help with replenishing supplies and ingredients as needed. Trash Removal and Waste Management: Emptying trash bins, recycling containers, and compost bins regularly to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen. Kitchen helpers may also assist with separating and disposing of food waste and recyclable materials according to local regulations. Equipment Maintenance: Assisting with basic maintenance tasks for kitchen equipment, such as cleaning and greasing grills, ovens, and fryers, and ensuring that equipment is in good working condition. Kitchen helpers may also report any issues or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel for repair. Safety and Hygiene: Following proper food safety and hygiene practices at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves and aprons, and adhering to sanitation guidelines for food handling and storage.
