Job description

Food Preparation: You assist with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients. This may also involve portioning ingredients, marinating meats, and preparing sauces or dressings. Dishwashing: You are responsible for washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and other kitchen equipment used during food preparation and service. This includes operating dishwashing machines, as well as hand-washing items as needed. Cleaning and Sanitization: Keeping the kitchen clean and sanitary is essential for food safety. You assist with general cleaning tasks such as wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping floors, and emptying trash bins. You may also help sanitize kitchen equipment and food preparation areas. Stock Management: You help maintain inventory levels by restocking ingredients, supplies, and kitchen utensils as needed. This includes monitoring stock levels, rotating perishable items, and notifying supervisors when supplies need to be replenished. Assistance During Service: During meal service times, you provide support to the kitchen team by fetching ingredients, assembling food orders, and plating dishes. You may also assist with expediting orders and ensuring that food is prepared and served promptly. Kitchen Organization: You help keep the kitchen organized and efficient by arranging ingredients, utensils, and equipment in designated storage areas. This includes labeling items, storing perishables properly, and maintaining a clean and tidy workspace. Compliance with Food Safety Regulations: You follow food safety guidelines and regulations to ensure that all food handling and storage practices meet health and safety standards. This includes proper handling of raw ingredients, temperature control, and personal hygiene practices. Assistance with Special Tasks: Depending on the needs of the kitchen, you may be asked to assist with special tasks or projects, such as prepping for catering events, assisting with inventory audits, or helping with kitchen renovations or deep cleaning. Teamwork and Communication: You work closely with other kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and servers, to ensure effective communication and collaboration. This includes following instructions, asking for help when needed, and supporting your teammates during busy periods. Adherence to Policies and Procedures: You comply with kitchen policies, procedures, and safety protocols established by the restaurant or food service establishment. This includes adhering to uniform standards, following kitchen rules, and reporting any accidents or incidents to supervisors.
