Job description

Food Preparation: Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Measure and portion ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards under the guidance of the chef or cook. Dishwashing and Sanitization: Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and cooking equipment by hand or using dishwashing machines. Ensure that all items are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and stored properly to maintain hygiene standards in the kitchen. Kitchen Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep the kitchen area clean, organized, and free of clutter by sweeping, mopping, and wiping down countertops, surfaces, and equipment. Empty trash bins, dispose of waste properly, and maintain cleanliness in storage areas. Inventory Management: Assist in receiving and storing deliveries of food supplies, dry goods, and kitchen essentials. Rotate stock, label items with expiration dates, and notify supervisors of low inventory levels or items in need of replenishment. Assistance During Service: Support kitchen staff during peak service times by fetching ingredients, assembling ingredients for recipes, and assisting with plating and garnishing dishes. Help expedite orders by delivering food to the serving area or dining room. Kitchen Safety: Adhere to food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper handwashing, glove usage, and temperature monitoring. Follow kitchen safety procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and hazards in the workplace. Equipment Operation: Operate kitchen equipment and appliances safely and efficiently, including ovens, stovetops, grills, fryers, and food processors. Clean and maintain equipment according to manufacturer instructions and kitchen guidelines. Assistance with Special Tasks: Assist chefs and cooks with special tasks or projects as needed, such as food prep for catering events, recipe testing, or menu development. Show willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as assigned. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members, including chefs, cooks, and servers, to ensure effective communication and teamwork. Follow instructions from supervisors and support colleagues to achieve common goals and deliver exceptional service. Customer Interaction: While Kitchen Helpers typically have limited interaction with customers compared to front-of-house staff, they may occasionally interact with guests in a professional and courteous manner when delivering food to the dining area or assisting with customer inquiries.
