Job description

Food Preparation: Assisting chefs and cooks with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and assembling dishes. This may involve following recipes and portioning ingredients according to the chef's instructions. Dishwashing: Washing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans used in food preparation and service. This includes operating dishwashing equipment such as dishwashers and ensuring that all items are cleaned thoroughly and sanitized according to health and safety standards. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen by cleaning countertops, equipment, and kitchen tools. This includes wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping floors, and emptying trash bins regularly to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Stocking and Inventory: Assisting with the receiving, storage, and organization of food and supplies in the kitchen. This may involve unpacking deliveries, stocking shelves and refrigerators, and rotating food items to ensure freshness and minimize waste. Assisting Kitchen Staff: Providing support to chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff as needed. This may include fetching ingredients, fetching equipment, and helping with food plating and presentation during busy periods. Maintaining Equipment: Performing basic maintenance tasks on kitchen equipment, such as cleaning and greasing machinery, and reporting any equipment malfunctions or issues to the kitchen supervisor or maintenance staff. Following Health and Safety Regulations: Adhering to health and safety regulations and guidelines to ensure the kitchen operates in compliance with food safety standards. This includes maintaining personal hygiene, wearing appropriate protective clothing, and following proper food handling procedures. Assisting with Special Events: Supporting the kitchen team during special events or catering functions by helping with food preparation, setup, and cleanup as directed by the chef or kitchen manager. Teamwork: Collaborating with other kitchen staff members to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This includes communicating effectively, coordinating tasks, and supporting each other to deliver high-quality food and service to customers.
