Job description

Inspection of Materials: Check incoming materials such as precious metals (gold, silver, platinum), gemstones, pearls, and other components for quality and authenticity. Verify the purity, color, clarity, and cut of gemstones and diamonds according to specified standards and grading criteria. Workmanship Evaluation: Examine jewelry pieces for craftsmanship defects, including soldering flaws, casting imperfections, metal discoloration, and surface irregularities. Ensure that settings, prongs, clasps, and other components are securely fastened and properly aligned to prevent damage or loss of gemstones. Measurement and Sizing: Measure the dimensions, size, and weight of jewelry items to ensure accuracy and consistency with design specifications. Verify ring sizes, chain lengths, bracelet lengths, and other dimensions to meet customer expectations and industry standards. Surface Finish and Polishing: Assess the surface finish, polish, and texture of jewelry pieces to ensure a smooth, uniform appearance without scratches, blemishes, or imperfections. Use magnification tools such as loupes or microscopes to inspect fine details and finishes on jewelry surfaces. Gemstone Grading and Setting: Grade gemstones and diamonds based on the four Cs (color, clarity, cut, and carat weight) to determine their quality and value. Verify the proper setting of gemstones within jewelry settings, ensuring they are securely held in place and aligned correctly. Engraving and Marking: Check engraved markings, hallmarks, and logos on jewelry items for accuracy, legibility, and adherence to regulatory requirements. Ensure that personalized engravings and custom markings are executed according to customer specifications. Functionality Testing: Test the functionality of moving parts, hinges, clasps, and closures on jewelry items such as bracelets, necklaces, and earrings to ensure they operate smoothly and securely. Verify the functionality of features such as safety locks, pin backs, and earring posts to prevent accidents or injuries. Finishing Touches: Inspect finished jewelry pieces for final touches, including polishing, buffing, and cleaning, to enhance their appearance and luster. Remove any residual polishing compounds, fingerprints, or smudges to present jewelry items in pristine condition. Packaging and Presentation: Ensure that jewelry items are packaged securely and attractively, using appropriate packaging materials such as boxes, pouches, or display cases. Check packaging labels, tags, and documentation for accuracy and completeness before shipping or display. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain detailed records of quality control inspections, including inspection results, findings, and corrective actions taken. Generate inspection reports, certificates of authenticity, and quality assurance documentation to accompany jewelry products. Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance protocols applicable to the jewelry industry. Stay updated on changes to quality control standards, materials regulations, and gemstone grading criteria to maintain compliance and best practices. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and quality enhancements in jewelry manufacturing and quality control processes. Solicit feedback from customers, designers, and production teams to implement improvements and innovations in product quality and customer satisfaction.
