Hardware Responsibilities: Procurement and Installation: Procuring new hardware components and devices as needed, including servers, workstations, laptops, peripherals, and other equipment. Installing and configuring hardware according to specifications and requirements. Maintenance and Upgrades: Regular maintenance of hardware components to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This includes tasks such as cleaning, replacing worn-out parts, and applying firmware updates. Planning and executing hardware upgrades to accommodate evolving needs and technological advancements. Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnosing and resolving hardware-related issues and malfunctions. This may involve troubleshooting hardware components, identifying faulty components, and coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary. Asset Management: Tracking and managing hardware assets throughout their lifecycle, including inventory management, asset tracking, and disposal or recycling of obsolete hardware. Security: Implementing and enforcing hardware security measures to protect against unauthorized access, theft, and data breaches. This may involve physical security measures, such as access controls and surveillance, as well as cybersecurity measures to safeguard against cyber threats. Networking Responsibilities: Network Design and Planning: Designing and planning the organization's network infrastructure to meet current and future requirements. This includes determining network topology, selecting appropriate networking technologies, and designing network architectures for optimal performance and scalability. Implementation and Configuration: Installing, configuring, and deploying network devices and components, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points. Configuring network settings, protocols, and security policies to ensure proper functionality and compliance with organizational requirements. Monitoring and Performance Management: Monitoring network performance and health using network monitoring tools and software. Identifying and resolving performance issues, bottlenecks, and network congestion to maintain optimal performance and reliability. Security: Implementing network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats. This includes configuring firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS), virtual private networks (VPNs), and other security technologies to safeguard network infrastructure and data. Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnosing and troubleshooting network-related issues and outages. This may involve analyzing network logs, packet captures, and other diagnostic data to identify root causes and implement solutions in a timely manner. Documentation and Documentation: Maintaining accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, policies, and procedures. This documentation serves as a reference for troubleshooting, planning, and knowledge transfer within the IT department.
