Job description

Network Design: Designing computer networks based on organizational needs, requirements, and constraints. This involves determining the network topology, selecting appropriate hardware components, and configuring network protocols and services. Hardware Installation: Installing and configuring networking hardware devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and network interface cards (NICs). Ensuring that hardware components are properly connected, powered on, and functioning correctly. Network Configuration: Configuring network settings, IP addresses, subnet masks, and other parameters on networking devices. Setting up VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks), DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), DNS (Domain Name System), and other network services. Network Security: Implementing security measures to protect network infrastructure and data from unauthorized access, breaches, and cyber threats. This may include configuring firewalls, VPNs (Virtual Private Networks), access control lists (ACLs), and encryption protocols. Network Monitoring: Monitoring network performance, traffic, and health using network monitoring tools and software. Identifying and resolving network issues, bottlenecks, and performance degradation in a timely manner. Network Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and troubleshooting network problems, connectivity issues, and hardware failures. Using diagnostic tools, command-line utilities, and protocol analyzers to identify and resolve network issues effectively. Hardware Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks on networking hardware devices, such as firmware updates, hardware upgrades, and preventive maintenance. Keeping hardware components clean, cool, and properly ventilated to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Documentation: Maintaining accurate documentation of network configurations, hardware inventory, IP address assignments, and network diagrams. Documenting network changes, upgrades, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference. User Support: Providing technical support and assistance to end-users, colleagues, and stakeholders regarding network connectivity, hardware issues, and network-related inquiries. Offering guidance and training on network usage and best practices. Disaster Recovery: Implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure the continuity of network operations in the event of hardware failures, data loss, or natural disasters. Regularly backing up critical network configurations and data. Compliance and Standards: Ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in network security, data privacy, and hardware maintenance. Keeping abreast of changes in technology and industry trends. Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional development activities, training programs, and certifications to stay updated on advances in networking technologies, hardware innovations, and industry standards.
