Job description

Hardware Installation and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware components such as servers, desktops, laptops, printers, routers, switches, and other peripherals. Ensure that hardware devices are functioning properly, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs or replacements as needed. Network Setup and Configuration: Design, implement, and maintain computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks. Configure network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points to ensure connectivity, security, and optimal performance. Network Security: Implement security measures to protect the organization's network infrastructure from cyber threats, unauthorized access, and data breaches. Configure firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and other security tools to monitor and safeguard network traffic. Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and connectivity issues using network monitoring tools and software. Identify and troubleshoot network problems, bottlenecks, and outages to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted network services. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Implement backup solutions to protect data and ensure business continuity in the event of hardware failures, data loss, or disasters. Perform regular backups of critical data, test backup systems, and develop disaster recovery plans to restore operations quickly in case of emergencies. Hardware Procurement: Assess hardware requirements, evaluate vendor options, and procure hardware equipment and peripherals as needed to support the organization's IT infrastructure. Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements with hardware vendors to obtain cost-effective solutions. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of hardware inventory, network configurations, and system configurations. Document network diagrams, equipment specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for reference and compliance purposes. Generate reports on network performance, security incidents, and hardware maintenance activities as required. User Support and Training: Provide technical support and assistance to end-users regarding hardware setup, connectivity issues, and network troubleshooting. Train users on basic hardware and networking concepts, best practices, and security awareness to promote effective use of IT resources. Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, data protection laws, and security standards related to hardware and networking practices. Stay informed about regulatory requirements, security guidelines, and industry trends to mitigate risks and maintain compliance. Capacity Planning: Evaluate current hardware and network infrastructure capacity and plan for future growth and scalability requirements. Forecast resource needs, recommend upgrades or expansions, and implement capacity planning strategies to support business growth and technology advancements. Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with hardware vendors, service providers, and contractors. Coordinate vendor activities, oversee service contracts, and escalate issues to vendors as needed to resolve hardware or network-related problems. Continuous Improvement: Continuously assess hardware and networking technologies, tools, and methodologies to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. Recommend upgrades, enhancements, or new solutions to enhance efficiency, security, and performance in hardware and networking environments.
