Job description

Network Design and Planning: Designing computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and wireless networks, based on organizational requirements, scalability, and performance considerations. Hardware Installation: Installing and configuring networking hardware components, such as routers, switches, access points, network interface cards (NICs), and cables, ensuring proper connectivity and functionality. Network Configuration: Configuring network devices, protocols, and services, such as IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and network security features (e.g., firewalls, VPNs). Server Installation and Administration: Installing, configuring, and administering server hardware, operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux), and server applications (e.g., Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, web servers), ensuring reliable network services and data storage. Network Security: Implementing security measures to protect networks, systems, and data from unauthorized access, malware, and cyber threats. This includes configuring firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and implementing encryption protocols (e.g., SSL/TLS). Network Monitoring and Management: Monitoring network performance, traffic, and security events using network monitoring tools and management platforms. Analyzing network logs, alerts, and performance metrics to identify and resolve issues proactively. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Diagnosing and troubleshooting network hardware and software problems, such as connectivity issues, network outages, and performance degradation. Implementing corrective actions and solutions to restore network functionality. Network Documentation: Maintaining accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, equipment inventories, and operational procedures. Keeping network documentation up-to-date to facilitate troubleshooting, planning, and compliance. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies for network infrastructure, data, and critical systems. Configuring backup solutions, scheduling backups, and testing recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity. User Support and Training: Providing technical support and assistance to end-users regarding network connectivity, access issues, and network-related software or hardware problems. Conducting training sessions to educate users on network usage best practices and security awareness. Vendor Management: Evaluating and selecting networking hardware and software vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing vendor relationships to procure quality products and services at competitive prices. Network Upgrades and Expansion: Planning and executing network upgrades, expansions, or migrations to accommodate growth, technology advancements, or changing business requirements. This includes hardware upgrades, software updates, and capacity planning. Compliance and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to network security, data protection, and privacy (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS). Continuous Learning and Professional Development: Staying updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in hardware and networking through training, certifications, and self-study. Maintaining expertise in networking technologies and certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, and others. Team Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT teams, system administrators, software developers, and business stakeholders, to coordinate network projects, share knowledge, and address network-related requirements effectively.
