Curriculum Development: Design and develop curriculum, lesson plans, and course materials for graphic design programs or courses. Ensure that the curriculum aligns with industry standards, trends, and best practices in graphic design. Instruction and Teaching: Deliver lectures, presentations, and hands-on workshops to students, covering topics such as design principles, typography, color theory, layout, and software proficiency (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite). Provide engaging and interactive instruction to facilitate learning and skill development. Demonstrations and Workshops: Conduct demonstrations and practical workshops to demonstrate design techniques, tools, and software applications used in graphic design. Provide guidance, feedback, and critique to students on their design projects and assignments. Portfolio Development: Mentor and advise students on building a professional portfolio showcasing their design work and achievements. Assist students in selecting and refining portfolio pieces that demonstrate their skills, creativity, and expertise in graphic design. Project-Based Learning: Assign and oversee design projects, assignments, and group collaborations that allow students to apply theoretical concepts and practical skills in real-world design scenarios. Encourage creativity, experimentation, and innovation in student projects. Critique and Feedback: Provide constructive feedback, critique, and evaluation of student work to help them improve their design skills, problem-solving abilities, and creative thinking. Offer guidance on design principles, techniques, and strategies for improvement. Professional Development: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in graphic design practice. Participate in professional development activities, conferences, and workshops to enhance your own skills and knowledge as a graphic design educator. Collaboration and Networking: Collaborate with colleagues, industry professionals, and employers to enrich the learning experience and create opportunities for student internships, mentorships, and industry partnerships. Build relationships with design firms, studios, and organizations to facilitate student placement and career opportunities. Technology Integration: Integrate technology tools and software applications into the curriculum to enhance student learning and prepare them for careers in graphic design. Familiarize students with industry-standard design software and emerging digital technologies relevant to graphic design practice. Assessment and Evaluation: Develop assessment criteria and rubrics to evaluate student performance, projects, and assignments effectively. Provide fair, consistent, and constructive assessment feedback to students, guiding them in meeting learning objectives and achieving academic success.
