Job description

Patient Consultations: Conduct consultations with patients to assess their medical history, symptoms, and diagnostic test results, and determine if surgical intervention is necessary. Preoperative Evaluation: Perform preoperative evaluations to assess the patient's overall health status, evaluate surgical risks, and obtain informed consent for surgery. Surgical Procedures: Perform a variety of surgical procedures, including but not limited to: Abdominal surgeries (e.g., appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair) Breast surgeries (e.g., lumpectomy, mastectomy) Gastrointestinal surgeries (e.g., colon resection, gastric bypass) Vascular surgeries (e.g., vascular bypass, endarterectomy) Soft tissue surgeries (e.g., excision of skin lesions, tumor removal) Trauma surgeries (e.g., repair of fractures, laceration repair) Emergency surgeries (e.g., appendectomy for appendicitis, exploratory laparotomy for trauma) Postoperative Care: Provide postoperative care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, managing pain, assessing wound healing, and addressing complications that may arise after surgery. Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including anesthesiologists, nurses, surgical assistants, and specialists, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care before, during, and after surgery. Medical Documentation: Document surgical procedures, patient assessments, treatment plans, and postoperative care in medical records accurately and comprehensively, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Emergency Surgery Response: Respond to emergency situations that require immediate surgical intervention, such as trauma, acute abdominal emergencies, and life-threatening conditions, and perform surgeries as needed to stabilize patients. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, potential risks and benefits, postoperative care instructions, and recovery expectations to facilitate informed decision-making and optimal outcomes. Continuing Education: Stay updated on advances in surgical techniques, technologies, and medical research through continuing medical education (CME) activities, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer review processes to evaluate surgical outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices to enhance patient safety and satisfaction. Ethical Practice: Adhere to ethical principles and professional standards of conduct in all aspects of patient care, including respecting patient autonomy, confidentiality, and dignity, and maintaining honesty and integrity in professional relationships. Community Outreach: Participate in community outreach programs, health education initiatives, and public awareness campaigns to promote preventive healthcare measures and raise awareness about surgical services and resources available to the community.
