Job description

Patient Consultations: Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assessments to diagnose eye conditions, disorders, and diseases. Evaluate patients' medical histories, perform vision tests, and assess visual acuity and eye health. Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions and diseases, including refractive errors (e.g., myopia, hyperopia), cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and eye infections. Prescription of Corrective Lenses: Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, or other visual aids to correct vision problems and improve visual acuity for patients with refractive errors or other vision impairments. Medical Procedures: Perform surgical procedures and treatments, such as cataract surgery, LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis), corneal transplants, retinal surgery, and other specialized surgeries to correct or treat eye conditions. Management of Chronic Eye Conditions: Provide ongoing care and management for chronic eye conditions, including monitoring disease progression, adjusting treatment plans, and educating patients on self-care and prevention measures. Emergency Eye Care: Respond to emergency cases and urgent care needs, such as eye injuries, sudden vision loss, and acute eye infections. Administer immediate treatment and coordinate follow-up care as needed. Collaboration with Healthcare Teams: Collaborate with optometrists, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, share medical information, and ensure comprehensive treatment plans. Patient Education: Educate patients about their eye conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures. Provide guidance on eye care practices, lifestyle adjustments, and adherence to treatment plans for optimal eye health. Research and Innovation: Stay updated on advancements in ophthalmology research, technologies, and treatment modalities. Participate in clinical trials, research studies, or continuing education to enhance knowledge and skills. Medical Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient consultations, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care. Ensure compliance with medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and regulatory standards. Professional Development: Pursue ongoing professional development through attendance at conferences, workshops, and specialized training courses. Maintain licensure and certification requirements in ophthalmology.
