Job description

Medical Examination: Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity, eye health, and overall ocular function. This may include using specialized equipment to evaluate the cornea, retina, optic nerve, and other structures of the eye. Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions and diseases, including refractive errors (such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism), cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachment, among others. Prescription of Corrective Lenses: Prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses to correct refractive errors and improve visual clarity and comfort. Conduct refraction tests to determine the appropriate lens power and prescription for patients. Surgical Interventions: Perform various surgical procedures to address eye conditions and diseases, such as cataract surgery, LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) for refractive correction, corneal transplant surgery, glaucoma surgery, retinal surgery, and eyelid surgery. Management of Eye Injuries: Provide emergency care and treatment for eye injuries, trauma, and infections. This may involve assessing the extent of the injury, administering medications, performing procedures to repair damaged tissues, and providing follow-up care as needed. Management of Chronic Conditions: Monitor and manage chronic eye conditions, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, through regular check-ups, medication management, and lifestyle interventions to preserve vision and prevent disease progression. Pediatric Eye Care: Provide specialized eye care services for children, including vision screenings, eye exams, and treatment for pediatric eye conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed eyes), and refractive errors. Collaboration with Other Specialists: Collaborate with other medical specialists, such as neurologists, endocrinologists, and rheumatologists, to manage systemic conditions that may affect the eyes, such as diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and neurological diseases. Patient Education and Counseling: Educate patients about their eye conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures to maintain eye health. Provide counseling on lifestyle factors, such as diet, exercise, and smoking cessation, that can impact eye health and vision. Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest advances in ophthalmic research, technology, and surgical techniques. Participate in clinical trials and research studies to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and treatment options in the field of ophthalmology.
