Job description

Diagnosis and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess patients' vision, visual acuity, and overall eye health. Perform diagnostic tests and procedures such as visual field tests, tonometry, retinal imaging, and refraction to identify eye conditions and disorders. Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans for patients based on their diagnosis, medical history, and specific needs. Prescribe medications, eyeglasses, contact lenses, or other therapeutic interventions to manage eye conditions and improve visual function. Surgical Interventions: Perform surgical procedures to treat a wide range of eye conditions and disorders, including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, corneal disorders, and refractive errors. Surgical interventions may include cataract surgery, laser eye surgery, corneal transplants, and retinal surgery. Laser Procedures: Use laser technology to perform various ophthalmic procedures, such as laser refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK), laser photocoagulation for retinal disorders, and laser trabeculoplasty for glaucoma. Management of Eye Diseases: Manage and treat various eye diseases and conditions, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, cataracts, retinal detachment, dry eye syndrome, and uveitis. Emergency Care: Provide emergency and urgent care for eye injuries, infections, and sudden vision changes. Assess and manage ocular trauma, chemical burns, foreign body removal, and other acute eye conditions requiring immediate attention. Patient Education: Educate patients about their eye condition, treatment options, and preventive measures to maintain good eye health. Provide instructions on proper eye care, medication use, post-operative care, and lifestyle modifications to optimize visual outcomes. Collaboration and Referral: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including optometrists, primary care physicians, and specialists in related fields, to ensure comprehensive care for patients with complex medical conditions. Refer patients to other specialists or subspecialists as needed for further evaluation or management. Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of advancements in ophthalmic research, technology, and treatment modalities. Participate in clinical research studies, trials, and academic pursuits to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and innovation in the field of ophthalmology. Continuing Education: Engage in continuous learning and professional development through attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops, and continuing medical education (CME) activities.
