An Ophthalmologist is a medical professional who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. They are trained to provide comprehensive eye care, including conducting eye examinations, prescribing corrective lenses, and performing surgeries to correct injuries and conditions of the eyes. An ophthalmologist diagnoses and treats all eye diseases, performs eye surgery, and prescribes and fits eyeglasses and contact lenses to correct vision problems.
