Job description

Medical History and Examination: Take detailed medical histories from patients and perform thorough physical examinations, focusing on the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck regions. Assess symptoms, evaluate function, and identify abnormalities or signs of disease. Diagnostic Testing: Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies to aid in the diagnosis of ear, nose, and throat conditions. This may include audiometry, tympanometry, nasal endoscopy, laryngoscopy, CT scans, MRI scans, and other tests as needed. Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans for patients based on their diagnosis, medical history, and specific needs. Determine appropriate medical or surgical interventions to manage conditions and improve symptoms. Medical Management: Prescribe medications, including antibiotics, antihistamines, decongestants, steroids, and pain relievers, to treat infections, allergies, inflammation, and other medical conditions affecting the ear, nose, and throat. Surgical Interventions: Perform surgical procedures to treat a wide range of ear, nose, and throat conditions, including tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, sinus surgery, septoplasty, tympanoplasty, cochlear implantation, and head and neck cancer surgery. Endoscopic Procedures: Use minimally invasive endoscopic techniques to diagnose and treat conditions of the nasal passages, sinuses, larynx, and pharynx. This may include nasal endoscopy, sinus surgery, laryngoscopy, and vocal cord surgery. Hearing and Balance Evaluation: Assess hearing function and balance using specialized tests such as audiometry, vestibular testing, and electronystagmography (ENG). Diagnose and manage disorders of the inner ear, including vertigo, Meniere's disease, and vestibular schwannoma. Voice and Swallowing Disorders: Evaluate and treat voice and swallowing disorders, including hoarseness, dysphonia, dysphagia, and vocal cord dysfunction. Perform vocal cord injections, laryngeal electromyography (EMG), and voice therapy as needed. Pediatric ENT Care: Provide specialized care for pediatric patients with ear, nose, and throat conditions, including recurrent ear infections, tonsillitis, obstructive sleep apnea, congenital abnormalities, and speech and language disorders. Allergy Testing and Immunotherapy: Perform allergy testing, including skin prick testing and allergy blood tests, to identify allergens triggering allergic rhinitis and sinusitis. Prescribe allergen immunotherapy (allergy shots) to desensitize patients to allergens and reduce allergic symptoms. Counseling and Patient Education: Counsel patients and their families about their diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis. Provide education on preventive measures, lifestyle modifications, and self-care strategies to optimize treatment outcomes and prevent recurrence of symptoms. Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including audiologists, speech-language pathologists, allergists, pulmonologists, neurologists, oncologists, and radiation oncologists, to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex medical conditions affecting the ear, nose, and throat.
