Job description

Curriculum Development: Plan and develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and educational activities aligned with curriculum standards and learning objectives. Select appropriate texts, resources, and materials to support instruction in English language arts. Teaching Language Skills: Teach and reinforce essential language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Provide instruction in grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and punctuation to help students improve their communication skills. Literature Instruction: Introduce students to a variety of literary genres, authors, and works of literature from different time periods and cultural backgrounds. Foster a love of reading and critical thinking skills through the analysis and interpretation of literary texts. Writing Instruction: Guide students in the writing process, from brainstorming and drafting to revising and editing. Teach writing techniques, styles, and genres, such as narrative, persuasive, expository, and descriptive writing. Language Acquisition: Support English language learners (ELLs) in developing proficiency in English language skills. Provide differentiated instruction and scaffolding strategies to meet the diverse needs of ELL students and facilitate their language acquisition. Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, such as quizzes, tests, essays, projects, and presentations. Provide constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills and achieve learning goals. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning. Set clear expectations for behavior, participation, and academic performance, and enforce classroom rules and procedures consistently. Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to accommodate students with diverse learning styles, abilities, and needs. Modify lesson plans, assignments, and activities to provide appropriate levels of challenge and support for individual students or groups. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, parents, and other stakeholders to support student learning and achievement. Communicate effectively with students and parents about academic progress, expectations, and opportunities for growth. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in English language teaching. Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. Cultural Competence: Foster cultural awareness and sensitivity in the classroom by incorporating diverse perspectives and experiences into instruction. Respect and celebrate the cultural backgrounds and identities of students and create an inclusive learning environment. Student Support and Advocacy: Provide academic support, guidance, and mentorship to students to help them succeed academically and personally.
