Job description

Instruction in Dance Techniques: Teaching fundamental dance techniques, movements, and styles specific to different genres such as ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, contemporary, ballroom, or cultural dances. Demonstrating proper posture, alignment, footwork, coordination, and rhythm to help students develop technical proficiency and artistic expression. Choreography and Routine Development: Creating choreography and dance routines suitable for students' skill levels, ages, and performance goals. Structuring dance sequences, formations, transitions, and musicality to enhance artistic interpretation and storytelling through movement. Classroom Management: Managing class dynamics, behavior, and student engagement during dance lessons, rehearsals, and practice sessions. Maintaining a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and creativity among students. Skill Development and Progress Evaluation: Providing individualized instruction and feedback to help students improve their dance technique, performance quality, and stage presence. Conducting assessments, evaluations, and progress reviews to track students' development, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and set achievable goals. Performance Preparation: Preparing students for dance performances, recitals, competitions, or showcases by refining choreography, rehearsing routines, and ensuring readiness for stage presentation. Coaching students on stage etiquette, presence, costume changes, and collaboration with fellow dancers and performers. Musicality and Interpretation: Teaching students to interpret music, rhythm, tempo, and emotion through dance movements and expressions. Encouraging dancers to develop their artistic interpretation, storytelling abilities, and personal style in choreographed routines. Cross-disciplinary Education: Integrating interdisciplinary elements such as dance history, cultural context, anatomy, physiology, and dance theory into dance education to broaden students' understanding and appreciation of the art form. Collaborating with other arts educators or professionals to explore connections between dance and other disciplines, such as music, theater, and visual arts. Inclusive Teaching Practices: Embracing diversity and inclusivity in dance education by accommodating students of varying abilities, backgrounds, and learning styles. Creating opportunities for all students to participate, learn, and excel in dance regardless of previous experience or physical limitations. Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional development activities, workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance teaching techniques, choreographic skills, and dance pedagogy. Staying informed about current trends, innovations, and best practices in dance education and performance. Community Engagement and Outreach: Collaborating with schools, community centers, dance studios, and cultural organizations to promote dance education, performances, and public appreciation of dance as an art form.
