Job description

Structural Analysis and Design: Analyzing and designing structural elements and systems for buildings, bridges, dams, towers, and other infrastructure projects to ensure they meet safety, performance, and durability requirements. Building Codes and Standards: Ensuring that structural designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards established by local, national, and international authorities. Engineering Calculations: Performing structural calculations, simulations, and modeling using engineering software, formulas, and methodologies to determine loads, stresses, and deflections on structural components. Design Documentation: Creating detailed engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and technical reports that communicate design intent, materials, dimensions, and construction details to architects, contractors, and other stakeholders. Material Selection: Selecting appropriate construction materials, such as concrete, steel, timber, or composites, based on structural requirements, project specifications, cost considerations, and sustainability principles. Construction Supervision: Providing technical support and oversight during construction activities, including reviewing shop drawings, conducting site inspections, and resolving structural issues or discrepancies as they arise. Seismic and Wind Engineering: Evaluating and designing structures to withstand seismic forces, wind loads, and other environmental factors using seismic analysis, wind engineering principles, and structural retrofitting techniques. Foundation Design: Designing foundations and substructures to support structural loads and ensure stability, including shallow foundations, deep foundations, pile foundations, and retaining structures. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks, hazards, and vulnerabilities associated with structural design and construction and developing strategies to mitigate and manage them effectively. Value Engineering: Collaborating with architects, contractors, and other project team members to optimize structural designs, improve cost-effectiveness, and enhance performance while meeting project objectives and constraints. Structural Integrity: Ensuring the structural integrity, serviceability, and durability of buildings and infrastructure throughout their design life by conducting structural assessments, inspections, and condition evaluations. Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional development activities to stay updated on the latest developments, technologies, and best practices in structural engineering, including attending training programs, seminars, and conferences.
