Job description

Structural Analysis and Design: Performing structural analysis using engineering principles and software tools to determine the strength, stability, and load-bearing capacity of structural components. Designing structural systems such as beams, columns, slabs, and foundations to resist loads and forces. Building Design and Modeling: Creating detailed structural drawings, plans, and models using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Developing structural designs that integrate seamlessly with architectural and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) plans. Material Selection and Specification: Selecting appropriate construction materials such as concrete, steel, timber, and masonry based on project requirements, budget constraints, and structural performance criteria. Specifying material properties, dimensions, and installation methods. Code Compliance and Permitting: Ensuring that structural designs comply with local building codes, regulations, and zoning ordinances. Obtaining necessary permits and approvals from regulatory authorities for construction projects. Collaboration with Project Team: Collaborating with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs with overall project plans. Participating in design meetings, reviews, and coordination efforts to achieve project objectives. Structural Calculations and Reports: Performing structural calculations, simulations, and analyses to verify the adequacy and safety of proposed designs. Preparing technical reports, calculations, and documentation to support design decisions and regulatory submissions. Quality Assurance and Control: Implementing quality assurance and control measures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of structural designs. Conducting peer reviews, inspections, and checks to verify compliance with standards and specifications. Construction Support: Providing support during the construction phase of projects by responding to contractor inquiries, reviewing shop drawings, and addressing field issues related to structural components. Making design modifications or adjustments as necessary to accommodate site conditions or unforeseen challenges. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks, hazards, and vulnerabilities associated with structural designs. Developing risk mitigation strategies, contingency plans, and structural resilience measures to enhance safety and reliability. Continuing Education and Professional Development: Staying updated on industry trends, advancements in structural engineering technologies, and changes to building codes and standards through ongoing education, training, and professional development activities. Pursuing licensure and professional certifications in structural engineering as required.
