Job description

Structural Analysis and Design: Using engineering principles and software tools to analyze and design structures that can withstand applied loads, environmental factors, and other forces. This includes calculating stresses, strains, and deflections to ensure structural integrity. Design Development: Developing structural drawings, specifications, and calculations based on architectural and engineering plans. This involves selecting appropriate materials, dimensions, and construction methods to meet design requirements and codes. Safety and Compliance: Ensuring that structural designs comply with building codes, regulations, and safety standards. This includes reviewing and interpreting building codes and standards relevant to structural engineering. Site Investigation and Assessment: Conducting site visits and investigations to assess existing structures, soil conditions, and environmental factors that may affect the design and construction of new or rehabilitated structures. Collaboration with Architects and Engineers: Working closely with architects, civil engineers, and other professionals to integrate structural requirements into overall project designs. This involves coordinating design efforts, resolving design conflicts, and optimizing design solutions. Construction Support: Providing technical support during the construction phase by reviewing shop drawings, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and conducting site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks and hazards associated with structural designs and developing mitigation strategies. This includes considering factors such as seismic activity, wind loads, and environmental impacts. Structural Rehabilitation and Retrofitting: Evaluating and designing repairs, renovations, or reinforcements for existing structures to enhance their safety, durability, and functionality. This may involve assessing structural deficiencies and proposing retrofitting solutions. Technical Documentation: Preparing comprehensive structural calculations, reports, and documentation to support design decisions, approvals, and construction activities. This includes maintaining accurate records of design modifications and revisions. Professional Development and Continuing Education: Staying updated with advancements in structural engineering practices, technologies, and codes through professional development activities and continuing education courses. Client Communication and Consultation: Communicating technical concepts and design considerations to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities. This includes addressing client concerns, providing recommendations, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle. Quality Control and Assurance: Conducting quality checks and reviews of structural designs and calculations to ensure accuracy, reliability, and adherence to project requirements and standards.
