Civil Structural Engineer Job in Kozhikode

Kozhikode, Kerala Full Time Date: 10 June 2024

Job description

Structural Design: Designing structures to withstand various loads and forces, including gravity, wind, snow, earthquakes, and environmental factors. This involves analyzing structural systems and materials to determine the most efficient and cost-effective design solutions. Structural Analysis: Performing structural analysis using computer-aided design (CAD) software, finite element analysis (FEA), and other tools to assess the behavior and performance of structural components and systems under different loading conditions. Material Selection: Selecting appropriate construction materials, such as concrete, steel, timber, and masonry, based on their strength, durability, and suitability for specific structural applications. Code Compliance: Ensuring that structural designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards established by government agencies and professional organizations. This includes staying updated on changes to codes and standards and integrating them into design practices. Foundation Design: Designing foundations and support systems to transfer loads from structures to the underlying soil or rock strata safely and efficiently. This may involve analyzing soil properties, conducting geotechnical investigations, and designing various types of foundation systems, such as shallow foundations, deep foundations, and retaining structures. Structural Detailing: Developing detailed construction drawings, plans, and specifications that communicate design intent and provide instructions for builders and contractors. This includes detailing structural components, connections, reinforcement, and other construction details. Construction Oversight: Providing technical support and guidance during the construction phase to ensure that structural elements are built according to design specifications and industry standards. This may involve conducting site inspections, reviewing shop drawings, and resolving construction-related issues as they arise. Quality Assurance: Implementing quality control measures to verify the integrity and performance of structural components and systems throughout the construction process. This includes conducting inspections, tests, and evaluations to identify and address any defects or deficiencies. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks and hazards associated with structural engineering projects and developing strategies to mitigate them. This may involve conducting risk assessments, implementing safety measures, and ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards. Collaboration: Collaborating with architects, other engineers, contractors, and stakeholders throughout the design and construction process to integrate structural requirements with architectural and functional considerations and ensure the successful completion of projects.
