Civil Structural Engineer Job in Kochi

Kochi, Kerala Full Time Date: 07 June 2024

Job description

Structural Analysis and Design: Use engineering principles and software tools to analyze the behavior of structural elements under various loading conditions. Design structural systems that can withstand loads such as gravity, wind, seismic forces, and temperature fluctuations. Material Selection and Specification: Select appropriate construction materials based on project requirements, structural loads, and environmental factors. Specify material properties, dimensions, and quality standards to ensure structural integrity and durability. Structural Modeling: Create detailed 3D models of structural systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Tekla Structures. Model structural components and connections to visualize the behavior of the structure and optimize design efficiency. Code Compliance: Ensure that structural designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations. Stay updated on changes to building codes and incorporate code requirements into design calculations and documentation. Load Calculation and Analysis: Determine the magnitude and distribution of loads acting on structural elements, including dead loads, live loads, snow loads, wind loads, and seismic loads. Perform load calculations and analysis to ensure that structures can safely support anticipated loads. Foundation Design: Design foundations to support structural loads and transfer them safely to the underlying soil or rock. Analyze soil conditions, assess foundation options, and design footings, piles, or other foundation systems based on site-specific requirements. Structural Detailing: Develop detailed construction drawings, plans, and specifications for structural components. Include dimensions, reinforcement details, material specifications, and construction notes to guide contractors in building the structure according to design intent. Structural Testing and Evaluation: Conduct structural testing and evaluation to assess the performance of existing structures, identify deficiencies, and recommend remedial measures. Use non-destructive testing techniques and instrumentation to monitor structural health and integrity. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and other professionals to integrate structural design with architectural and MEP systems. Coordinate design efforts and resolve conflicts to ensure compatibility and coordination among disciplines. Construction Support and Supervision: Provide technical support during construction activities, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and conducting site inspections. Verify that construction is executed in accordance with approved plans and specifications and address any deviations or discrepancies. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and hazards associated with structural design and construction. Develop risk mitigation strategies and implement measures to enhance safety, reliability, and resilience of structural systems. Professional Development: Stay updated on advancements in structural engineering technologies, materials, and design methods. Participate in continuing education, training programs, and professional organizations to expand knowledge and skills in the field.
