Civil Structural Engineer Job in Kannur

Kannur, Kerala Full Time Date: 24 May 2024

Job description

Structural Analysis: Conduct structural analysis using engineering principles and software tools to assess the behavior, stability, and strength of structural components and systems under various loading conditions. Design Development: Develop detailed structural designs, drawings, and specifications for buildings, bridges, and other structures, ensuring compliance with applicable building codes, standards, and regulations. Load Calculations: Calculate loads and forces acting on structural elements, including dead loads, live loads, wind loads, snow loads, seismic loads, and soil pressures, to determine design requirements. Material Selection: Select appropriate materials for structural components based on project requirements, site conditions, structural performance criteria, and cost considerations. Evaluate the properties and characteristics of materials such as concrete, steel, timber, and composites. Structural Modeling: Create 2D and 3D structural models using computer-aided design (CAD) software and structural analysis software to visualize and analyze structural systems, components, and connections. Foundation Design: Design foundations for buildings, bridges, and other structures, including shallow foundations, deep foundations, and pile foundations, considering soil properties, bearing capacity, settlement, and stability. Steel and Concrete Design: Design structural steel and reinforced concrete elements, including beams, columns, slabs, walls, and connections, using appropriate design codes and standards such as AISC, ACI, and Eurocodes. Bridge Design: Design bridge structures, including superstructures, substructures, and foundations, considering factors such as span length, traffic loads, seismic forces, and environmental conditions. Structural Retrofitting: Evaluate existing structures for deficiencies, deterioration, or damage, and develop retrofitting and strengthening solutions to enhance structural performance, durability, and safety. Construction Oversight: Provide technical support and oversight during construction activities, including reviewing shop drawings, conducting site inspections, and resolving construction-related issues and challenges. Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC): Implement QA/QC procedures to ensure that structural designs and construction activities meet quality requirements and comply with project specifications and standards. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and hazards associated with structural engineering projects, such as design errors, material defects, and construction deficiencies, and develop risk mitigation strategies. Permitting and Regulatory Compliance: Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and certifications from regulatory agencies and government authorities for structural engineering projects. Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, environmental laws, and other applicable regulations. Client Communication: Communicate with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, address concerns, and provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle. Professional Development: Stay updated with advancements in structural engineering technologies, design codes, and best practices through continuous learning, professional development activities, and participation in industry associations and conferences.
