Iritty, Kerala Full Time Date: 06 June 2024

Job description

Structural Analysis and Design: Performing structural analysis and design calculations to determine the strength, stability, and load-bearing capacity of structural elements such as beams, columns, slabs, and foundations. You use engineering principles and software tools to develop structural designs that meet safety, durability, and performance requirements. Designing Structural Systems: Designing structural systems and components to withstand various loads, forces, and environmental conditions. You select appropriate materials, construction techniques, and structural configurations to optimize performance, minimize material usage, and meet project specifications and constraints. Modeling and Simulation: Creating computer models and simulations to analyze structural behavior and performance under different loading conditions. You use finite element analysis (FEA) software and other simulation tools to assess structural responses, predict deformations, and identify potential failure modes. Code Compliance and Standards: Ensuring compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards applicable to structural engineering design. You stay updated on regulatory requirements and guidelines, interpret code provisions, and incorporate them into structural designs to ensure legal and regulatory compliance. Collaboration with Architects and Engineers: Collaborating with architects, civil engineers, and other design professionals to integrate structural requirements into architectural and engineering plans. You participate in interdisciplinary design teams, provide technical expertise and guidance, and coordinate design efforts to achieve project objectives. Structural Retrofitting and Rehabilitation: Assessing the condition of existing structures and developing retrofitting or rehabilitation plans to enhance structural performance and extend service life. You evaluate structural deficiencies, recommend repair or reinforcement measures, and design retrofit solutions to address structural vulnerabilities and safety concerns. Construction Support and Inspection: Providing technical support and oversight during the construction phase of projects. You review construction drawings and specifications, conduct site inspections, and address technical inquiries or issues related to structural design, materials, and construction methods to ensure compliance with design intent and quality standards. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying and mitigating risks associated with structural engineering projects, including hazards such as earthquakes, wind loads, and environmental factors. You conduct risk assessments, develop risk mitigation strategies, and incorporate safety factors and redundancy measures into structural designs to enhance resilience and reliability. Project Management and Coordination: Managing structural engineering projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. You develop project plans, establish milestones and deliverables, and coordinate activities with project stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project execution. Professional Development and Continuing Education: Staying updated on advances in structural engineering theory, technology, and best practices. You participate in professional development activities, attend training programs and seminars, and pursue professional certifications to enhance your skills and expertise in structural engineering.
