Job description

Structural Analysis: Conducting structural analysis and calculations to assess the behavior and performance of various building and infrastructure components, including beams, columns, slabs, foundations, and retaining walls. Structural Design: Designing structural systems and elements to support the loads and forces imposed by the building's weight, occupancy, environmental conditions, and other factors, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and compliance with building codes and standards. Building Design Coordination: Collaborating with architects, civil engineers, and other design professionals to integrate structural requirements into building designs, ensuring that structural elements are properly coordinated with architectural and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems. Foundation Design: Designing foundations and footings to support building structures and infrastructure, considering soil conditions, geotechnical data, and structural loads to ensure stability, settlement control, and resistance to seismic and environmental forces. Structural Detailing: Developing detailed construction drawings, plans, and specifications for structural elements, including reinforcement details, connection design, and material specifications, to guide construction and ensure compliance with design intent. Construction Oversight: Providing technical support and guidance during the construction phase, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs (requests for information), conducting site inspections, and resolving technical issues to ensure that construction activities align with design requirements and industry standards. Structural Retrofitting and Rehabilitation: Assessing existing structures for deficiencies, deterioration, or damage, and developing retrofitting and rehabilitation solutions to strengthen, repair, or upgrade structural elements and systems to meet current standards and performance requirements. Structural Modeling and Analysis Software: Utilizing computer-aided design (CAD) and structural analysis software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, or STAAD.Pro to create 3D models, analyze structural behavior, and optimize design solutions. Seismic and Wind Analysis: Performing seismic and wind load analysis to evaluate the effects of earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural hazards on structural performance, and designing structures to resist these forces and minimize damage. Code Compliance and Permitting: Ensuring compliance with local building codes, regulations, and permitting requirements for structural design and construction activities, obtaining necessary approvals from regulatory authorities, and facilitating inspections and certifications.
