Job description

Structural Design: Develop structural designs and calculations for various civil engineering projects. This includes determining appropriate structural systems, materials, and configurations to meet project requirements and specifications. Analysis: Conduct structural analysis using engineering software and manual calculations to assess the behavior of structural elements under various loads, including gravity, wind, seismic, and temperature loads. Code Compliance: Ensure that structural designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards. Stay updated on changes in codes and regulations and incorporate them into the design process as necessary. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and hazards associated with structural designs and develop risk mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and integrity of structures throughout their lifecycle. Material Selection: Select appropriate construction materials, including concrete, steel, timber, and masonry, based on structural requirements, performance criteria, and cost considerations. Detailing: Prepare detailed construction drawings, plans, and specifications for structural components, including beams, columns, slabs, and foundations. Ensure that drawings accurately represent design intent and facilitate construction implementation. Coordination: Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate structural designs with architectural and mechanical systems. Coordinate design changes and resolve conflicts to ensure seamless project execution. Construction Support: Provide technical support during the construction phase, including responding to requests for information (RFIs), reviewing shop drawings, and conducting site inspections to ensure that construction adheres to design specifications. Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance measures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and quality of structural designs and documentation. Conduct peer reviews and quality checks to identify and address any errors or discrepancies. Performance Evaluation: Monitor the performance of structures during and after construction, including conducting structural inspections, assessing structural health, and recommending maintenance or repair strategies as needed. Continuing Education: Stay updated on advancements in structural engineering technology, materials, and design practices through ongoing education, professional development, and participation in industry conferences and seminars. Ethical and Professional Conduct: Adhere to ethical standards and professional codes of conduct in all aspects of structural engineering practice.
