Job description

Structural Design: Design structural systems, components, and elements for various civil engineering projects, ensuring they meet safety, performance, and durability requirements. This includes designing foundations, beams, columns, slabs, walls, and other structural members using engineering principles and software tools. Structural Analysis: Perform structural analysis using computer software and analytical methods to evaluate the behavior and performance of structural systems under different loading conditions, such as gravity loads, wind loads, seismic loads, and temperature effects. Material Selection: Select appropriate construction materials, such as concrete, steel, timber, or masonry, based on structural requirements, design considerations, and project specifications. Evaluate material properties, strengths, and durability to ensure compatibility with structural design. Code Compliance: Ensure compliance with building codes, standards, and regulations governing structural design and construction, such as the International Building Code (IBC), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standards, and local building ordinances. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and hazards associated with structural design and construction, such as structural instability, foundation settlement, or material failure. Develop risk management strategies and mitigation measures to minimize risks and ensure structural safety. Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate structural design elements with architectural and civil engineering plans. Coordinate structural design considerations with other disciplines to ensure compatibility and functionality of the overall project. Construction Support: Provide technical support during the construction phase of projects, including responding to requests for information (RFIs), reviewing shop drawings, and conducting site inspections to ensure that construction activities comply with structural design specifications and quality standards. Quality Control and Assurance: Implement quality control and assurance measures to monitor and assess the quality of structural materials, fabrication processes, and construction techniques. Conduct inspections, tests, and evaluations to verify compliance with structural design requirements and industry standards. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of structural design calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence. Prepare and submit technical reports, progress updates, and documentation for regulatory approval and client review. Continuing Education and Professional Development: Stay updated on developments in structural engineering, including advances in design methodologies, construction techniques, and building materials. Participate in professional development activities, seminars, and continuing education programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
