Job description

Drafting and Design: Creating accurate and detailed drawings, plans, and blueprints using computer-aided design (CAD) software or traditional drafting techniques. Civil Draughtsmen translate conceptual designs and sketches into precise technical drawings that adhere to industry standards and specifications. Site Plans and Layouts: Developing site plans, layout drawings, and land surveys for construction projects. Civil Draughtsmen produce drawings that depict site boundaries, topography, existing infrastructure, and proposed developments to facilitate project planning and site preparation. Architectural Drawings: Assisting architects and designers in preparing architectural drawings, floor plans, and building elevations for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. Civil Draughtsmen create drawings that illustrate building layouts, dimensions, and structural elements to guide construction. Structural Drawings: Collaborating with structural engineers to produce structural drawings, details, and reinforcement plans for building foundations, columns, beams, and other structural elements. Civil Draughtsmen develop drawings that specify materials, dimensions, and construction techniques for structural components. Mechanical and Electrical Drawings: Coordinating with mechanical and electrical engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical systems into building designs. Civil Draughtsmen create drawings that depict HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, plumbing layouts, and electrical wiring diagrams. Road and Infrastructure Drawings: Designing and drafting plans for roads, highways, bridges, and other civil infrastructure projects. Civil Draughtsmen produce drawings that show road alignments, grading, drainage systems, and pavement markings to support transportation engineering projects. Utility Drawings: Developing drawings for utility networks such as water supply, sewage, and stormwater drainage systems. Civil Draughtsmen create utility plans that illustrate pipe layouts, manhole locations, and utility connections to ensure efficient and reliable infrastructure. Quantity Takeoffs: Estimating material quantities and quantities of work based on construction drawings and specifications. Civil Draughtsmen calculate quantities of concrete, steel, asphalt, and other materials needed for construction projects to support cost estimation and procurement. Detailing and Annotation: Adding dimensions, labels, and annotations to drawings to provide clarity and information for construction contractors and workers. Civil Draughtsmen annotate drawings with notes, symbols, and schedules that convey design specifications and construction requirements. Revision and Updates: Reviewing and revising drawings based on feedback, revisions, or changes during the design and construction process. Civil Draughtsmen update drawings to reflect design modifications, as-built conditions, or field changes to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements. Documentation and Filing: Organizing and maintaining drawing files, records, and documentation related to civil engineering projects. Civil Draughtsmen archive drawings, maintain drawing logs, and manage document control to facilitate project communication and documentation. Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborating with engineers, architects, surveyors, and other stakeholders to coordinate design efforts and resolve design conflicts. Civil Draughtsmen communicate effectively with project team members, attend meetings, and contribute to interdisciplinary coordination efforts.
