Menu Planning and Development: Designing menus that feature a variety of authentic Chinese dishes, including dim sum, stir-fries, noodles (e.g., chow mein, lo mein), rice dishes (e.g., fried rice), soups (e.g., hot and sour soup), and regional specialties (e.g., Sichuanese, Cantonese, Hunanese). Recipe Creation and Innovation: Developing and refining recipes to maintain authenticity while also incorporating creative twists and adaptations to cater to diverse palates and preferences. Ingredient Selection and Procurement: Sourcing fresh and high-quality ingredients essential for Chinese cuisine, such as vegetables, seafood, poultry, meats (like pork and duck), tofu, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a variety of aromatic spices and seasonings. Food Preparation and Cooking Techniques: Expertly preparing and cooking Chinese dishes using traditional techniques, including wok cooking (stir-frying, steaming, braising), knife skills (such as julienning and chopping), and seasoning methods (marinating, seasoning with soy sauce, oyster sauce, etc.). Presentation and Plating: Ensuring that dishes are presented attractively and plated in accordance with Chinese culinary traditions, which often emphasize balance, harmony, and aesthetic appeal. This may include garnishing with fresh herbs, arranging food in decorative patterns, and using traditional serving vessels. Maintaining Hygiene and Safety Standards: Adhering to strict hygiene and food safety standards in the kitchen, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of ingredients to prevent contamination and ensure food safety. Team Leadership and Training: Leading a team of kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and consistent quality.
