Job description

Installation: Installing CCTV systems in various locations, including indoor and outdoor environments, according to client requirements and specifications. This involves mounting cameras, running cables, connecting components, and configuring system settings. System Design: Assessing the layout and surveillance needs of a site to design an effective CCTV system that provides optimal coverage and security. This may include determining camera placement, selecting appropriate camera types (e.g., dome, bullet, PTZ), and specifying additional equipment such as monitors, DVRs (Digital Video Recorders), and NVRs (Network Video Recorders). Cabling: Running and terminating cables, such as coaxial cables or Ethernet cables, to connect CCTV cameras to the recording and monitoring equipment. This requires knowledge of cable types, connectors, and installation techniques to ensure reliable connectivity and signal transmission. Configuration: Configuring CCTV cameras, DVRs, NVRs, and other system components to enable recording, monitoring, and remote viewing capabilities. This includes setting up camera angles, adjusting image settings (e.g., resolution, frame rate), configuring motion detection, and establishing network connectivity for remote access. Testing and Commissioning: Testing each CCTV camera and system component to ensure they are functioning correctly and capturing clear video footage. This involves conducting camera alignment, focus adjustment, and image quality checks, as well as testing remote viewing and playback functionalities. Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks on CCTV systems to ensure they remain operational and reliable. This may include cleaning camera lenses, checking connections, updating firmware/software, replacing worn or defective components, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Upgrades and Expansion: Upgrading existing CCTV systems to incorporate new technologies, features, or cameras with higher resolutions and advanced capabilities. CCTV technicians may also assist with expanding surveillance coverage by adding additional cameras or extending existing systems to cover new areas. Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of CCTV installations, configurations, maintenance activities, and service calls. This documentation helps track the history of each system, facilitate troubleshooting, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Customer Training: Providing training and guidance to clients or end-users on how to use and operate the CCTV system effectively. This may include demonstrating how to access live video feeds, review recorded footage, and configure system settings. Compliance and Regulations: Ensuring compliance with local regulations, privacy laws, and industry standards governing the installation and use of CCTV systems. CCTV technicians must adhere to ethical practices and respect privacy rights while implementing surveillance solutions.
