Job description

Pre-procedure preparation: Prepare the cath lab for procedures by ensuring that all necessary equipment, supplies, and medications are available and in working order. This may involve setting up imaging equipment, catheters, guidewires, and other interventional devices. Patient preparation: Assist with patient preparation for cath lab procedures, including explaining the procedure to patients, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring that patients are positioned comfortably and safely on the procedure table. Monitor patient vital signs: Monitor patients' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, throughout the procedure to ensure patient safety and detect any changes or complications. Assist during procedures: Assist the cardiologist or interventional radiologist during cath lab procedures by passing instruments, catheters, guidewires, and other equipment, operating imaging equipment, and providing support as needed. Image acquisition and analysis: Operate fluoroscopy and angiography equipment to acquire high-quality images of the heart and blood vessels during procedures, and assist with image analysis and interpretation as directed by the physician. Medication administration: Administer medications as directed by the physician, including sedatives, analgesics, antiplatelet agents, and anticoagulants, to ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures. Sterile technique: Maintain a sterile field in the cath lab and adhere to strict aseptic techniques to prevent infections and ensure patient safety during invasive procedures. Post-procedure care: Assist with post-procedure care, including monitoring patients' recovery, assessing for complications, and providing appropriate interventions or medications as needed. Equipment maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of cath lab equipment and imaging systems, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or issues as they arise to ensure uninterrupted workflow and patient care. Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete documentation of procedures, patient assessments, medications administered, and other relevant information in the patient's medical record or electronic health record (EHR).
