Processing Transactions: You ring up purchases, accept payments, and provide customers with receipts. Handling Cash: You handle cash transactions, including counting cash, making change, and reconciling cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy. You follow cash handling procedures and security protocols to prevent losses or discrepancies. Processing Payments: You accept various forms of payment, including cash, credit cards, debit cards, and mobile payments. You verify payment methods, process transactions securely, and issue refunds or exchanges as needed. Customer Service: You provide friendly, courteous, and prompt service to customers, answering questions, addressing concerns, and assisting with their shopping needs. You may also provide information about products, promotions, or store policies. Maintaining Cleanliness: You keep your workstation clean, organized, and well-stocked with supplies, such as bags, receipt paper, and cleaning materials. You may also help maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the checkout area and surrounding areas. Inventory Control: You monitor inventory levels of high-demand items at the checkout counter and notify management when stock is running low. You may also assist with restocking shelves or replenishing merchandise as needed. Security Awareness: You remain vigilant for signs of theft or fraud, such as counterfeit bills or suspicious behavior from customers. You follow security procedures, such as checking identification for age-restricted purchases or verifying signatures on credit card transactions. Cashier Training: You may assist in training new cashiers on POS systems, cash handling procedures, customer service standards, and store policies. You help ensure that all team members understand their roles and responsibilities at the checkout counter. Sales Promotion: You may promote sales or special offers to customers during checkout, such as upselling additional items or encouraging participation in loyalty programs.
