Job description

Customer Service: Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner. Assist customers with inquiries, provide information about products or services, and offer assistance as needed. Processing Transactions: Scan or manually enter items purchased by customers into the point-of-sale (POS) system. Calculate and provide the total amount due, including taxes or discounts, and receive payment from customers. Cash Handling: Accept cash, credit/debit cards, vouchers, or other forms of payment from customers. Count and verify cash transactions accurately to ensure the correct amount is received and change is given. POS System Operation: Operate the POS system to process transactions, input prices, apply discounts or promotions, and generate receipts for customers. Familiarity with POS functionalities and troubleshooting minor issues is essential. Maintaining Transaction Records: Maintain accurate records of transactions, including cash receipts, sales totals, and refunds. Ensure reconciliation of cash drawer at the end of each shift or day. Product Knowledge: Acquire knowledge about products or services sold by the establishment. Provide recommendations, suggest add-on items, or inform customers about promotions to enhance their shopping experience. Handling Returns and Exchanges: Process returns, refunds, or exchanges of merchandise following established policies and procedures. Resolve customer complaints or issues regarding transactions courteously and efficiently. Security and Compliance: Adhere to security procedures and protocols to prevent theft, fraud, or discrepancies in cash handling. Follow legal and regulatory requirements related to cash transactions and customer privacy. Inventory Control: Assist in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels on the sales floor. Notify supervisors or managers of low stock or items needing replenishment. Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other cashiers, sales associates, and store staff to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service. Communicate effectively to address customer needs and maintain a positive work environment. Cleaning and Organizing: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and presentable. Arrange merchandise and promotional displays near the checkout for upselling opportunities. Adherence to Policies: Follow company policies, procedures, and guidelines related to cash handling, customer service, safety, and hygiene standards.
