Processing Sales Transactions: Ring up purchases accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system. Scan items, enter prices, and calculate totals, ensuring that all items are accounted for and correctly priced. Handling Payments: Accept cash, credit/debit cards, electronic payments, checks, and other forms of payment from customers. Count cash back accurately and provide change to customers as needed. Ensuring Transaction Accuracy: Verify the accuracy of transactions, including prices, discounts, and applicable taxes. Double-check items scanned or entered into the system to prevent errors and discrepancies. Maintaining Cash Drawer: Manage cash drawer by balancing cash, checks, and other forms of payment at the beginning and end of each shift. Reconcile discrepancies and report any shortages or overages to management. Providing Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer questions about products or services, and assist with inquiries or concerns. Provide helpful and friendly service to ensure a positive shopping experience. Processing Returns and Exchanges: Handle returns, exchanges, and refunds according to company policies and procedures. Verify the condition of returned items and process refunds or exchanges promptly. Promoting Sales and Discounts: Inform customers about sales promotions, discounts, and special offers to encourage additional purchases. Upsell or cross-sell complementary products or add-ons to increase sales revenue. Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization: Keep the cashier area clean, organized, and well-stocked with supplies such as bags, receipt paper, and cleaning materials. Ensure that the POS system and equipment are functioning properly. Following Security Procedures: Adhere to security procedures and protocols to prevent theft, fraud, or unauthorized access to cash or sensitive information. Report any suspicious activities or incidents to management immediately. Adhering to Policies and Regulations: Follow company policies, procedures, and regulations related to cash handling, sales transactions, and customer service. Stay informed about industry regulations and compliance requirements. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other store staff members, including sales associates, managers, and supervisors, to coordinate workflow, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations.
