Customer Transactions: Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently, including cash, credit/debit cards, gift cards, and other forms of payment. Calculate totals, issue receipts, and ensure correct change is given. Cash Management: Handle cash transactions responsibly, including opening and closing cash registers, counting cash drawers, and reconciling discrepancies. Adhere to cash handling procedures and maintain accuracy in cash transactions. Customer Service: Provide friendly and courteous customer service at all times. Greet customers, answer questions about products or services, and assist with inquiries or concerns. Ensure a positive shopping or dining experience for customers. Product Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the products or services offered by the business. Provide information on prices, promotions, and product availability as needed. Upsell or cross-sell additional items when appropriate. Transaction Records: Maintain records of transactions and balances throughout the shift. Accurately record sales, refunds, voids, and exchanges in the point-of-sale (POS) system or cash register. Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels for items at the cashier station. Notify supervisors or managers when inventory is low or additional stock is needed. Ensure accurate scanning or entry of items during checkout. Security and Compliance: Follow security procedures to prevent theft and fraud. Verify identification for age-restricted purchases such as alcohol or tobacco. Comply with company policies, privacy regulations, and legal requirements. Cleanliness and Organization: Keep the cashier area clean, organized, and well-maintained. Ensure that supplies such as bags, receipt paper, and promotional materials are stocked and readily available. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other cashiers, sales associates, and team members to provide efficient service and resolve customer issues. Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth operations. Problem Resolution: Handle customer complaints or concerns with patience and professionalism. Resolve issues promptly and escalate complex problems to supervisors or management as needed. Shift Management: Manage your work schedule effectively, including breaks and shift transitions. Maintain punctuality and reliability in attendance to support operational needs.
