Job description

Processing Transactions: Scan or manually enter items into the point-of-sale (POS) system, process payments (cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments), and provide change to customers as needed. Accuracy: Ensure that all transactions are processed accurately, including item prices, discounts, and applicable taxes. Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer questions about products or services, and assist with locating items or resolving issues. Provide a positive and friendly experience to enhance customer satisfaction. Cash Handling: Count cash in the register at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy. Handle cash, checks, and other forms of payment securely and follow proper procedures for cash management. Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the cashier area clean and organized, including the POS terminal, checkout counter, and surrounding areas. Remove clutter, sanitize surfaces, and restock supplies as needed. Promotions and Upselling: Inform customers about promotions, discounts, or loyalty programs to encourage additional purchases. Upsell or suggest complementary products to enhance the shopping experience. Handling Returns and Exchanges: Process returns, exchanges, or refunds according to store policies. Verify the condition of returned items and handle them appropriately. Security: Remain vigilant for any signs of theft or fraudulent activity. Follow security procedures such as checking identification for age-restricted items or verifying signatures on credit/debit card transactions. Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to ensure smooth operations at the checkout area. Communicate effectively with other departments regarding inventory levels, pricing updates, or customer inquiries. Adherence to Policies: Follow company policies and procedures regarding cash handling, customer interactions, and safety protocols.
