Job description

Customer Service: Greet customers as they approach the checkout counter and provide friendly and efficient service throughout the transaction process. Answer any questions they may have regarding products, prices, or policies. Cash Handling: Receive payments from customers in the form of cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments, or vouchers. Accurately calculate the total amount due, process payments, and provide change or receipts as needed. POS Operation: Operate a point of sale (POS) system to scan items, input prices, and process transactions. Ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and that the POS system balances at the end of your shift. Product Scanning and Bagging: Scan barcodes or manually input product codes to register items for purchase. Bag items securely and efficiently to prevent damage and ensure customer satisfaction. Cash Register Reconciliation: Reconcile cash register drawers at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure that all transactions are accounted for accurately. Count cash, checks, and other forms of payment and verify against transaction records. Refunds and Exchanges: Process returns, refunds, and exchanges according to company policies and procedures. Verify the condition of returned items and issue refunds or store credits as appropriate. Security and Loss Prevention: Follow security protocols to prevent theft, fraud, or loss of merchandise or cash. Be vigilant for any suspicious behavior and report any incidents to management immediately. Product Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the products and services offered by the store to assist customers with inquiries and provide recommendations. Stay updated on promotions, discounts, and sales events. Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, including the POS system, cash register, and surrounding area. Ensure that all necessary supplies, such as bags, receipt paper, and cleaning supplies, are stocked and readily available. Adherence to Policies and Procedures: Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines regarding cash handling, customer service, and safety. Follow compliance requirements related to age-restricted products, returns, and privacy regulations. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other cashiers, sales associates, and team members to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service. Communicate effectively with colleagues and support each other as needed. Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities for self-improvement and professional development.
