Job description

Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer their questions, and provide assistance with products, services, or transactions to ensure a positive shopping or dining experience. Cash Handling: Receive payments from customers in the form of cash, credit cards, debit cards, or mobile payments, and accurately process transactions using cash registers, point-of-sale (POS) systems, or electronic payment terminals. Payment Processing: Scan or manually enter product prices, apply discounts or promotions, calculate totals, and provide customers with receipts or invoices for their purchases. Cash Management: Count and reconcile cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts, and maintain accurate records of cash transactions, including cash counts, deposits, and discrepancies. Credit Card Processing: Process credit card and debit card payments securely using card readers or payment terminals, and follow established procedures to prevent fraud and ensure compliance with payment card industry (PCI) standards. Refunds and Exchanges: Process returns, refunds, or exchanges for customers according to store policies and procedures, and handle any issues or complaints with professionalism and courtesy. Product Knowledge: Stay informed about product features, prices, and promotions to assist customers with their purchasing decisions and upsell or cross-sell additional products or services when appropriate. Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels of cash, coins, and other payment methods, and request additional change or supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations at the checkout counter. Security Procedures: Follow security protocols and procedures to prevent theft, fraud, and unauthorized access to cash or sensitive information, and report any suspicious activities or incidents to management or security personnel. Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and well-maintained, including wiping down surfaces, restocking bags or supplies, and troubleshooting minor equipment issues as needed. Cashier Training: Train new cashiers on cashiering procedures, customer service standards, and company policies, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to support their development and performance improvement. Compliance: Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards governing cash handling, payment processing, and customer privacy, and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures at all times.
