Job description

Processing Transactions: Accurately process sales transactions at the point of sale (POS) system, including cash, credit card, debit card, mobile payment, or gift card transactions. Scan or manually input items, calculate totals, and issue receipts to customers. Cash Handling: Handle cash transactions securely and accurately, including counting cash, making change, and balancing cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts. Follow cash handling procedures and security protocols to prevent theft or loss. Customer Service: Provide friendly, efficient, and attentive customer service to enhance the shopping experience. Greet customers warmly, answer inquiries about products or services, and assist with locating items or resolving issues. Product Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of the store's products, promotions, and policies to effectively assist customers with their purchases. Offer recommendations, provide information about product features and benefits, and upsell or cross-sell items as appropriate. Returns and Exchanges: Process returns, refunds, and exchanges according to store policies. Verify proof of purchase, inspect returned items for damage, and issue refunds or store credits as needed. Inventory Management: Assist with inventory management tasks such as receiving shipments, restocking shelves, and conducting inventory counts. Notify management of low stock levels, damaged merchandise, or discrepancies in inventory records. Sales Reporting: Record sales transactions accurately and maintain sales reports or logs for accounting and reporting purposes. Provide sales data and reports to management as requested to track performance and identify trends. Promotions and Discounts: Apply discounts, coupons, and promotional offers to transactions in accordance with store policies. Inform customers of current promotions, sales events, or loyalty programs to encourage repeat business. Compliance and Security: Adhere to compliance regulations, including age verification for restricted products such as alcohol or tobacco. Follow security procedures to prevent fraud, theft, or unauthorized access to cash registers or sensitive information. Cleanliness and Organization: Keep the cashier area clean, organized, and well-maintained throughout the shift. Arrange merchandise, bag purchases, and dispose of trash or debris to ensure a tidy and welcoming environment for customers. Communication with Team: Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate tasks and address operational issues. Collaborate with colleagues to provide support during busy periods or special events. Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities to improve cashier processes, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
