Job description

Customer Service: Provide friendly, efficient, and courteous service to customers at the point of sale. Greet customers, answer inquiries, and assist with product selection or inquiries as needed. Cash Handling: Receive cash, checks, credit card payments, or other forms of payment from customers. Accurately count and verify cash and make change for customers as necessary. Process electronic transactions using point-of-sale (POS) systems or cash registers. Transaction Processing: Scan or input items purchased by customers into the POS system and calculate the total amount due. Apply discounts, coupons, or promotions as applicable and ensure that prices are accurate. Bagging and Packaging: Bag or package items purchased by customers and provide assistance with carrying or loading purchases if needed. Ensure that items are handled and packaged carefully to prevent damage. Refunds and Exchanges: Process returns, refunds, or exchanges according to store policies and procedures. Verify the condition and eligibility of returned items and issue refunds or store credit as appropriate. Balancing Cash Registers: Balance cash registers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy and completeness of transactions. Reconcile cash, checks, and credit card receipts with sales records and report any discrepancies to management. Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and free of clutter. Wipe down counters, clean POS terminals, and restock supplies such as bags, receipt paper, and change as needed. Security and Fraud Prevention: Monitor transactions for signs of suspicious activity or fraud and report any concerns to management. Follow security procedures to safeguard cash, checks, and sensitive customer information. Assisting with Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management tasks such as receiving shipments, restocking shelves, and conducting inventory counts as directed by management. Adhering to Policies and Procedures: Follow company policies, procedures, and guidelines related to cash handling, customer service, and sales transactions. Adhere to compliance requirements for age-restricted products, sales tax, and other regulatory matters. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other cashiers, sales associates, and store staff to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service. Communicate effectively with team members and assist with tasks as needed. Professionalism and Integrity: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while interacting with customers and handling transactions.
