Job description

Customer Service: Greeting customers as they arrive at the cashier station, providing friendly and efficient service, and answering any questions they may have about the menu, prices, or specials. Cashiers serve as the primary point of contact for customers during the payment process, so they should maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times. Taking Orders: Taking orders from customers who are dining in or placing takeout orders over the phone or in person. Cashiers should accurately record customers' selections, including any modifications or special requests, and confirm the total cost of the order. Processing Payments: Calculating the total cost of customers' orders, including taxes and any additional charges, and processing payments using cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payment apps, or gift cards. Cashiers should handle transactions accurately and efficiently, providing customers with receipts and any change due. Handling Cash: Handling cash transactions, including counting cash received from customers, making change, and balancing cash registers at the beginning and end of each shift. Cashiers should follow proper cash handling procedures to prevent discrepancies and ensure accuracy in financial transactions. Maintaining Cleanliness: Keeping the cashier station clean and organized, including wiping down surfaces, cleaning credit card terminals or cash registers, and restocking supplies such as receipt paper, pens, and payment processing equipment. Managing Waiting Lists: In busy restaurants, cashiers may also manage waiting lists for customers who are waiting to be seated. This involves recording customers' names and party sizes, estimating wait times, and communicating with hosts or servers to coordinate seating arrangements. Assisting with Customer Inquiries: Assisting customers with inquiries or requests, such as providing directions to restrooms, offering information about menu items or restaurant policies, or assisting with takeout orders or delivery services. Up-selling and Promotions: Informing customers about any specials, promotions, or add-on items that may complement their order. Cashiers can help increase sales by suggesting additional items or upgrades to customers during the ordering process. Closing Duties: Completing closing duties at the end of each shift, such as reconciling cash drawers, preparing deposits, and securing cash and other valuables according to established procedures. Cashiers may also assist with closing procedures in the restaurant, such as cleaning and restocking.
