Processing Sales Transactions: Ring up purchases accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale (POS) systems or cash registers. Scan items, enter prices, and apply discounts or promotions as needed. Process payments, including cash, credit/debit cards, checks, or electronic payments, and issue receipts to customers. Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer questions about products and services, and provide assistance with locating items or navigating the dealership or retail store. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns professionally and courteously, seeking assistance from supervisors or managers when necessary. Cash Handling: Count and reconcile cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy and accountability. Handle cash transactions securely, following established procedures for cash handling, security, and fraud prevention. Maintain a balanced cash drawer and report any discrepancies or shortages to management. Credit Card Processing: Process credit and debit card payments securely and in compliance with payment card industry (PCI) standards. Verify cardholder information, obtain authorization for transactions, and reconcile credit card batches at the end of each shift. Check Processing: Accept checks from customers as payment for purchases, following verification procedures to ensure validity and prevent fraud. Process check payments accurately and securely, recording check numbers and customer information as required. Promotions and Discounts: Apply promotional discounts, coupons, or loyalty rewards to customer purchases as specified by promotional offers or customer accounts. Ensure that discounts are applied correctly and that customers receive the benefits they are entitled to. Gift Cards and Vouchers: Process transactions involving gift cards, vouchers, or store credits, including redemption, activation, and balance inquiries. Assist customers with purchasing or reloading gift cards and provide information about gift card policies and redemption options. End-of-Day Procedures: Complete end-of-day cash reconciliation procedures, including balancing cash drawers, preparing bank deposits, and generating reports of daily sales transactions. Ensure that all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled with sales records and financial reports. Security and Compliance: Follow established security protocols and procedures to protect cash, merchandise, and customer information from theft or unauthorized access. Adhere to company policies and industry regulations related to cash handling, privacy, and data security. Product Knowledge: Develop a basic understanding of automotive products, parts, and accessories sold by the dealership or retail store. Provide basic information about products to customers and refer complex inquiries to sales associates or product specialists. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with sales associates, service advisors, and other team members to provide seamless customer service and support dealership or retail operations. Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate activities, share information, and address customer needs. Professional Development: Stay updated on changes in policies, procedures, and technologies related to cashiering and retail operations. Participate in training programs and meetings to enhance job skills, product knowledge, and customer service techniques.
