Job description

Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers warmly, addressing their inquiries or concerns, and assisting them throughout the checkout process. Ensure a positive shopping experience by being courteous, attentive, and helpful at all times. Transaction Processing: Scan or manually enter items, tally totals, and process payments accurately and efficiently using cash registers, point-of-sale (POS) systems, or other payment terminals. Handle cash, credit cards, debit cards, mobile payments, or gift cards according to company policies and procedures. Cash Handling: Receive cash payments from customers, provide accurate change, and balance cash registers at the beginning and end of shifts. Count cash drawers, reconcile sales transactions, and maintain proper denominations of currency to prevent discrepancies or shortages. Product Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the products or services offered by the establishment to assist customers with locating items, answering questions about products, or making recommendations based on customer preferences. Promotions and Discounts: Apply discounts, coupons, or promotional offers to customer purchases as applicable. Verify eligibility, scan barcodes, or manually enter discount codes to ensure accurate pricing and savings for customers. Bagging and Packaging: Bag or package customer purchases neatly and securely to prevent damage during transportation. Handle fragile or perishable items with care and use appropriate packaging materials to ensure product integrity. Returns and Exchanges: Process returns, exchanges, or refunds for customers according to company policies and procedures. Verify proof of purchase, inspect returned items for damage or defects, and issue refunds or store credits as necessary. Security and Loss Prevention: Monitor transactions for signs of fraudulent activity or theft. Follow security protocols, such as verifying identification for large transactions or age-restricted items, and remain vigilant to prevent losses and protect company assets. Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and well-maintained throughout the shift. Remove clutter, sanitize surfaces, and replenish supplies, such as bags or receipt paper, as needed to create a pleasant shopping environment for customers. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other store staff, including sales associates, supervisors, and managers, to ensure smooth operations and provide support as needed. Communicate effectively with team members to address customer needs, resolve issues, and coordinate tasks efficiently.
