Job description

Customer Service: Greet customers in a friendly and courteous manner as they approach the cashier counter. Provide assistance, answer questions, and address concerns to ensure a positive shopping experience. Cash Handling: Process cash, credit card, debit card, and other forms of payment for purchases made by customers. Accurately calculate totals, collect payments, and provide change or receipts as needed. Transaction Processing: Scan or manually enter product barcodes into the point-of-sale (POS) system to ring up purchases. Verify prices, discounts, and promotions to ensure accuracy in transaction processing. Bagging and Packaging: Bag or package merchandise for customers, taking care to handle items delicately and ensure proper packaging. Offer assistance with carrying bags or items to the customer's vehicle if needed. Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels at the cashier station and inform supervisors or managers when stock is running low. Assist with restocking merchandise, replenishing bags, and organizing cashier supplies as needed. Returns and Exchanges: Process returns, exchanges, and refunds according to store policies and procedures. Verify the condition of returned items, issue refunds or store credits, and update inventory records accordingly. Sales Reporting: Accurately record sales transactions and reconcile cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts. Prepare sales reports, cash reconciliation reports, and other documentation as required by management. Security and Loss Prevention: Follow security protocols and procedures to prevent theft, fraud, and loss of merchandise or cash. Maintain vigilance and report any suspicious activities or incidents to store management or security personnel. Product Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the products and services offered by the store to assist customers with product inquiries, recommendations, and locating items within the store. Cleanliness and Organization: Keep the cashier area clean, organized, and free of clutter. Wipe down surfaces, tidy up displays, and dispose of trash or debris to maintain a neat and professional appearance. Compliance: Adhere to all store policies, procedures, and regulations related to cash handling, customer service, and safety. Follow compliance requirements for age-restricted products, such as alcohol or tobacco sales. Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow cashiers, sales associates, and other team members to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service throughout the store. Offer assistance and support to colleagues as needed.
