Customer Checkout: Ring up purchases, scan items, and process payments accurately using cash registers, point-of-sale (POS) systems, or other payment processing technology. Cash Handling: Handle cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and other forms of payment securely. Count cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accuracy and reconcile any discrepancies. Price Verification: Verify prices, discounts, and promotions for items scanned by customers. Resolve any discrepancies or errors in pricing promptly and courteously. Bagging Items: Bag or package items for customers as needed, ensuring that fragile or perishable items are handled with care to prevent damage. Customer Assistance: Assist customers with locating items, answering questions about products or services, and providing information about store policies, promotions, and loyalty programs. Returns and Exchanges: Process returns, refunds, and exchanges according to store policies, ensuring that items are returned in resaleable condition and refunds are issued accurately. Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and well-maintained. Wipe down counters, clean equipment, and remove clutter to create a welcoming and efficient checkout experience for customers. Security Measures: Adhere to security procedures and protocols to prevent theft, fraud, or other security risks. Be vigilant for suspicious behavior and report any concerns to management. Inventory Control: Monitor and report inventory levels of high-demand items or items nearing expiration to management. Alert supervisors to any discrepancies or shortages in stock. Opening and Closing Procedures: Follow opening and closing procedures, such as turning on/off equipment, securing cash drawers, and performing cash counts, to ensure the security of the store and its assets. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other cashiers, sales associates, and store staff to ensure smooth operations and provide backup support during busy periods or staffing shortages. Customer Feedback: Listen to customer feedback and suggestions, and escalate any recurring issues or concerns to management for resolution.
