Job description

Clinical Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' cardiovascular health, including medical history, symptoms, risk factors, and diagnostic tests. Use physical examination, imaging studies, and laboratory tests to evaluate cardiac function and identify underlying conditions. Diagnostic Testing: Order and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures to evaluate cardiac structure, function, and blood flow. This may include electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs), echocardiograms, stress tests, cardiac catheterization, CT scans, MRI scans, and blood tests. Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: Formulate accurate diagnoses based on assessment findings and diagnostic test results. Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patients' specific conditions, needs, and preferences. Medical Management: Prescribe and manage medications to treat cardiovascular conditions, such as hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and lipid disorders. Adjust medication regimens based on patients' responses and treatment goals. Interventional Procedures: Perform and/or supervise interventional procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disorders. This may include cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stenting, cardiac ablation, and pacemaker implantation. Cardiac Rehabilitation: Provide guidance and support for cardiac rehabilitation programs to help patients recover from heart-related procedures or events, such as myocardial infarction (heart attack) or cardiac surgery. Monitor patients' progress and adjust rehabilitation plans as needed. Risk Factor Management: Assess and manage modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, smoking, and sedentary lifestyle. Offer lifestyle counseling, dietary guidance, smoking cessation support, and exercise prescriptions to promote heart health. Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about cardiovascular health, disease prevention, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and self-care strategies. Empower patients to take an active role in managing their cardiovascular health and making informed decisions about their treatment options. Collaborative Care: Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including primary care physicians, cardiac surgeons, electrophysiologists, nurse practitioners, and rehabilitation specialists, to coordinate comprehensive care for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, case conferences, and care coordination meetings. Research and Academic Activities: Engage in clinical research, scholarly activities, and academic pursuits related to cardiovascular medicine. Contribute to the advancement of knowledge in cardiology through research studies, publications, presentations, and participation in professional conferences and organizations. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the delivery of cardiovascular care, optimizing patient outcomes, and ensuring adherence to evidence-based guidelines and best practices. Monitor clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and safety metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement quality improvement measures. Ethical Practice: Adhere to ethical principles and professional standards in clinical practice, research, and patient care. Maintain confidentiality, respect patient autonomy, and uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
