Job description

Patient Consultations: Conducting thorough patient consultations to assess medical history, symptoms, and risk factors related to cardiovascular health. Performing physical examinations and ordering diagnostic tests to evaluate cardiac function and identify potential cardiac conditions. Diagnostic Testing: Interpreting diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs), echocardiograms (ECHO), stress tests, cardiac catheterizations, and imaging studies (e.g., MRI, CT scans) to diagnose heart conditions and assess cardiac function. Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: Diagnosing a wide range of cardiac conditions and disorders, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular heart disease, congenital heart defects, and vascular diseases. Developing individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic findings, patient preferences, and evidence-based guidelines. Medication Management: Prescribing medications to manage cardiac conditions and symptoms, such as blood pressure medications, antiplatelet agents, anticoagulants, cholesterol-lowering drugs, diuretics, and antiarrhythmic medications. Monitoring medication effectiveness, adjusting dosages, and managing potential side effects. Interventional Procedures: Performing interventional procedures to treat coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular conditions. This may include cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stenting, balloon valvuloplasty, and other minimally invasive procedures to restore blood flow and improve cardiac function. Electrophysiology Studies and Procedures: Performing electrophysiology studies (EPS) and procedures to diagnose and treat cardiac arrhythmias. This may include catheter ablation procedures, implantation of pacemakers or defibrillators, and management of cardiac rhythm disorders. Cardiac Rehabilitation: Providing guidance and support to patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation programs following a heart attack, cardiac surgery, or other cardiac events. Promoting lifestyle modifications, exercise training, and dietary changes to improve cardiovascular health and prevent recurrence of cardiac events. Preventive Cardiology: Educating patients about cardiovascular risk factors, including hypertension, diabetes, obesity, smoking, and sedentary lifestyle. Counseling patients on strategies for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, such as smoking cessation, diet modification, exercise, and stress management. Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team: Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, cardiovascular surgeons, interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, cardiac nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, to coordinate patient care and optimize treatment outcomes. Patient Education and Counseling: Providing patients and their families with information about cardiac conditions, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and self-care strategies. Empowering patients to actively participate in their own healthcare management and make informed decisions about their cardiovascular health. Research and Academic Activities: Engaging in clinical research, academic teaching, and scholarly activities to advance knowledge in the field of cardiology. Participating in clinical trials, publishing scientific papers, and presenting findings at medical conferences to contribute to the advancement of cardiovascular medicine. Continuing Medical Education (CME): Pursuing ongoing professional development through continuing medical education (CME) activities, conferences, and workshops to stay updated on the latest developments, guidelines, and technologies in cardiology practice.
