Job description

Diagnosis and Assessment: Conducting thorough medical histories and physical examinations to assess cardiovascular health. Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG), echocardiograms, stress tests, cardiac catheterizations, and cardiac MRI or CT scans to diagnose heart conditions. Treatment Planning and Management: Developing individualized treatment plans for patients with cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and congenital heart defects. Prescribing medications to manage symptoms, improve heart function, control blood pressure, and prevent blood clots. Interventional Procedures: Performing interventional procedures such as cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stenting, and pacemaker implantation to treat blockages in coronary arteries or correct heart rhythm abnormalities. Surgical Consultation and Referral: Consulting with cardiovascular surgeons and referring patients for surgical interventions such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve replacement or repair, and heart transplant when necessary. Preventive Cardiology: Providing guidance on lifestyle modifications, including diet, exercise, smoking cessation, and stress management, to reduce cardiovascular risk factors and promote heart health. Management of Chronic Conditions: Monitoring and managing chronic cardiovascular conditions over time, adjusting treatment plans as needed to optimize heart function and quality of life. Patient Education: Educating patients and their families about cardiovascular conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and the importance of ongoing care and follow-up. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating closely with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, cardiac surgeons, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, to ensure coordinated care for patients. Communicating effectively with patients to explain diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognosis in clear and understandable terms. Research and Innovation: Participating in clinical research studies and staying updated with advancements in cardiovascular medicine, including new therapies, procedures, and technologies. Emergency Cardiac Care: Providing emergency care for patients experiencing acute cardiovascular events such as heart attacks (myocardial infarction) or severe arrhythmias, including timely intervention and stabilization.
