Biology teachers work in middle or high schools and help students learn about all living organisms' origin, distribution, structure, and function. They prepare and deliver engaging biology lessons to a student body comprised of different backgrounds, interests, and abilities. Biology teachers develop engaging curricula, including lab experiments and other scientific investigations; present lessons; and evaluate student performance. High school biology teachers also set and enforce guidelines for classroom behavior and arrange parent-teacher conferences when needed. They need to be able to manage and direct students, plan and evaluate curricula, and create lesson plans. As a biology teacher, it's important to be able to work with students who have different learning styles. Mentoring students and translating from English to other languages are also important soft skills.
